I have been given a "Versatile Blogger" award from Christi @ Pedestrian Runner so today I would like to get to fulfilling the items for this award. Sorry about the delay in getting to this Christi!
So here are the rules:
1. You must thank the person who gave you the award and link back to their blog. Thank you Christi! You guys should definitely check out her blog and cheer her on in her Operation Iron quest!
2. You must share 7 things about yourself.
3. Finally, you must pass this award along to other bloggers.
OK, well....Here we go!
1. I grew up hunting and fishing with my dad and mom.

My dad and me. I am the one with the apple and the toy gun. |
That is not Bailey in the background, that is my dad's dog, Kenny |
4. I am pretty psyched to get some tele-turns in at Sugarloaf.

Really, we ski too! Not sure about rocking the goggles and sunglasses though.. |
6. Sometimes I think about getting a new bike. It kind of freaks me out, because bikes can cost so much, and really I know I could get through IMLP with Rico, my current bike. So then I go back to thinking I don't need a new bike. Because really, my bike Rico and I have been a lot of miles together. So obviously I am waffling like crazy on this. Don't worry, you guys will be the first to know.
7. I spent 18 days in the belly of the Grand Canyon on a private boater permit with some of my best friends in the world. I miss the call of the Canyon Wren, the sand in places you didn't know you had, Gunniess for breakfast (it is like oatmeal), groovers with spectacular views, and laughing so much it hurts. Sometime in the not too distant future, I will be back there.
Yup, that is a beer, the silt wore the label off. |
Groover with a view. Yes, this was 100% carry in, carry out. |
I am tagging some of my newer followers:
1. Diana @ Diana Tries-A-Tri!
2. April @ Mommy's Fit for the King
3. Allison @ Just Tri and Finish

what!? awesome! Also, I LOVE sriacha sauce too, I put it on (or in) everything!
I don't mind knitting, but I have no talent for it... so I knit different coloured squares with scraps to make blankets ;)
Sriracha is the best! I thought your bike's name was Studmuffin, in my honor? Cool you are a knitter, that's a very nice hat, great design.
WE <3 Sriracha! we call it rooster sauce :) but I do love Tabasco's Chipotle one too!
Nice hat!
I'm really impressed with your knitting skills... very cool hat!
A great hat! That is so cool that you made it yourself. I have no talent like that!
As part of my Christmas present last year, my husband's grandmother taught me how to knit. So far, I've just made a bunch of scarves. Maybe one day, I'll make a hat.
Hi Mandy,
Congrats on the award! This was such a fun post with more information about you! I love the picture of you and your dad:) If you find a new bike or see something good when you are shopping....let me know what you think. I am hoping to find something on sale here soon. You are right, bikes are so expensive! Have a good one!
Ok.. I was browsing through runner blogs and had to click on yours. Why? Because Caratunk popped out at me. My best friend is from a small town called Caratunk. So as your blog loaded and saw it was Caratunk Maine, I got sooooooo excited. I'm from Bingham! I'm soo following you!
Great post Mandy! Only that many days left? haha!
Nice buck, Dad.
I am so excited for winter. We just finished stacking our wood and I put the ski rack on my car. Yay! And took the bike rack off. Boo.
Nice post!
I think it's awesome that you knit! I love that hat! :) I actually know how to crochet, but I haven't done it in a couple of years!
I bet that trip to the Grand Canyon was awesome!
I love this!! I knit dishclothes.. and dishclothes, and dishclothes atlhough I'm thinking about knitting blankets for the preemies at the hospital now but only because I can only knit squares.
loved this post! I knit too! And that hat is in my queue on ravelry! Are you on ravelry? If not, you should check it out! It's a knit and crochet community! :)
Nice rack! (on the deer I mean :-P haha)
MMMMMmmmm.... Guinness for breakfast. If I could only have one more beer for the rest of my life, it would be Guinness.
I'm still laughing at the "groover with a view" picture. My father in law would love one of those.
Agh! you remind me I got tagged to do one of these - haha
I just LOVE seeing pics of you and your Dad from the early days. I have really enjoyed the times you have posted about your experiences or thoughts or feelings about such, as it makes me realize how important it is the be there for my girls now and in years to come. Plus they are freakin awesome pics! great post
D
I want to go to the grand canyon - bad! Nice report. Do you have a tri bike? I have heard it helps, but I only have a road bike :)
This was fun to read, thanks for sharing
I lived in Arizona for 17 years, and I never been to the Grand Canyon
has knitting always been popular and I'm just noticing this the last few years? My sister knits and I'm in awe. I don't think I could do it. Love the hat!
We have that hot sauce in our fridge, hubby is a fan. I love that you knit! I am determined to learn how (maybe this winter, finally???). You should do a giveaway of a hat you made, I would love that!
cool stuff to know about you.
M, two things. The first is staying in the Grand Canyon for 18 days. Wow. That sounds so cool.
Number two, why don't you knit yourself a tri-uniform, that would be cool. haha.

I so bad want to learn to knit, and that hot sauce is wickedly awesome!! So cool about the Grand Canyon for 18 days - my 15 year old would be super jealous!
That picture with your dad is a riot. I have a few of those myself.
I love that shot with you and your dad! Too awesome.
I wish I could knit but it stressed me out so much when I tried that I had to quit.
