Chimney Pond, at the base of Katahdin |
I am meeting Erin tonight after work and then we are driving to the park from there. We have a campsite at a park campground Roaring Brook, which is the only campsite that we will be driving to. The rest of the trip we are carrying everything we need (food, sleeping bags, food, tent, stove, fuel, water, you name it) on our backs to remote campsites.
We are figuring on about 30-35 miles of hiking over the next 4 days. This is going to be awesome, I really need to get away from the hustle and bustle of Caratunk (you saw what rush hour was like around here!)
A few more things before I sign off for a few days...
I wanted to thank Luke, Christy, and Anne Marie for your tags and awards - I will be putting them together for a scheduled Sunday post while I am at Baxter - my first scheduled post, we will see if it works!
A HUGE thank you to Jeff and his wife Annie from Bailey. They sent him a special present from Texas!
Mmmmm...bone!!...and 70's shag rug. Can't wait to rip that baby out! |

Have a fabulous time hiking and enjoying the outdoors - it looks beautiful. I am sure you will be glad to escape that crazy rush hour traffic at home : )
A big hello to Ranger Rob at Chimney Pond! Take lots of pics, you go girl!
Have a wicked awesome time and take tons of pics.
You are amazing!! 4 days of hiking?! I'm sure my hubby wishes he had married YOU! ;)
Have a wonderful time!!!!
Have a great trip!
Have a fabulous vacation!
Heard great things about Baxter, looking forward to reading all about it.
That looks amazing! Have a fantastic time and enjoy every minute of it!
Sounds like a PERFECT trip!! have fun and I look forward to the update when you get back.
It took me days of thinking "CaratunkCaratunkCaratunk" to myself after finding your blog to place it: the Kennebec crossing of the AT. Maine was the best part of the whole trail, hands down. The shelter that's just south of the crossing was one of my favorite overnights. A truly wonderful place to live.
Have an awesome trip and give my regards to Katahdin for me. (My friend from MO thought it was "Cat-a-din." Snerk.)
Have a blast!!!! You're going to have sooo much fun!!!
Have a great trip and you're welcome! ;-)
Enjoy ... and tell me when I can pick up the rug. I'm redoing the guest bedroom. Just need some lava lamps, and a nice velvet Elvis Presley picture and I'm done.
I hope you have a great time! I am jealous. Hopefully i'll make into the back country myself this weekend.
Looked at your last trip posts. I think camping in the snow is nuts, but I have also wanted to take a NOLS winter camping/back country snowboarding class for a long time now so taht I could experience it.
Have a great trip!
I wish blogs had jealous buttons...
Enjoy Baxter! it looks like one of the most awesome places in the world:)
I am soooo jealous! Have an amazing time! :)
I need to find some old photos from up on knife's edge...
Have fun! Can't wait to hear about it!
Have a blast, you deserve it
Have fun!!! I'll be camping this weekend as well (at IMWI), but I'm not going to be roughing it like you :) I do sort of miss the hiking/camping/canoe trips I did back in Boy Scouts. Maybe next summer I can convince the Mrs.
I'm super jealous. Hope you have (had?) an awesome trip!! It looks gorgeous there -- the skiing looks amazing. Seeing pictures like this sometimes make me question why I choose to live in Pittsburgh...
YAY for fun trips!! I hope you have a blast!
Sounds like my kind of holiday. :)
Have a fantastic time with Erin and Bailey, and enjoy the campfires!
Hope your having a fantastic weekend! Brin back some phtographic proof please!
